Hello radiant, beautiful soul!
If you’re a high-net-worth woman crushing it in your career—leading teams, closing deals, or building empires—you’re a total powerhouse and everyone knows it! Everyone, it seems, but the men you want to date…
And that can be extra confusing when you hear about (or read, or see) men saying how much they want a strong, ambitious woman. Then when they meet one (hi it’s you) they run away. So you start to think to yourself: men are liars.
Right?
They don’t ACTUALLY want a woman who challenges them. They are just intimidated by you and your career and your success!
Now that will certainly be true of *some* men, but the majority of the men you are likely going out with, aren’t thinking that at all. In fact, they are turned on by the fact that you are powerful and they WANT a partner who can go the distance with them. They want to know you’re up for building life with them.
But they also don’t have the challenge of shifting out of their dominant energy to make a relationship work. The MASCULINE energy you have learned to operate in at work doesn’t serve you in romance. And yes, men get the “perk” of being able to build their career success AND their role as a reliable partner to you by remaining in their masculine.
You can blame the “patriarchy,” or you can accept that life isn’t fair and let yourself embrace a new facet of what makes you unique and powerful AS A WOMAN…
YOUR FEMININE ENERGY.
This is what successful men crave because it is NOT their dominant energy. They of course have it, but nature demands balance in all things. And I know from talking to hundreds of women that the overwhelming majority of women want a man who is masculine. Which means, you need to be feminine.
Femininity create space for certain skills that will attract a man in his HEALTHY masculine. However, if you are dating from your “masculine” skills that have made you wealthy, you’re repelling the very men you want to be close to! And it’s nothing to do with social systems, it’s biology.
Let’s take a look, together:
1. Control: The Romance Roadblock
The Problem: You’re a master at planning every detail at work—schedules, strategies, outcomes. A 2023 Harvard Business Review study found that 78% of female executives thrive on “strategic control,” making them unstoppable in their careers. But in dating? Trying to manage every moment—like scripting conversations or planning every date detail—kills the organic vibe. Research from Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin (2021) shows that high control in relationships reduces partner satisfaction by 30%, as it stifles emotional intimacy.
The Home Skill: Let go and trust him, babe! Love isn’t a project to micromanage; it’s a dance where your partner gets to lead sometimes. Tell him what you want (e.g., “I’d love a romantic dinner”), then let him take the reins to plan it. If he’s not stepping up, that’s not your cue to become his manager—it’s a sign he might not be the one. If he can’t show up and deliver when you say clearly & directly what you want, that’s a sign that he is out of alignment with his masculine and it’s probably time to give him a pink slip and move on to your next eligible candidate.
(Wait…do people even do pink slips anymore?)
Quick Tip: Before a date, try a bioenergetic grounding exercise: stand barefoot, breathe deeply for two minutes, and imagine roots anchoring you to the earth. Roll your shoulders back and open your chest and LITERALLY create more space around your heart. This softens your energy, helping you show up open and present.
2. Hyper-Independence: The Connection Killer
The Problem: You’ve built a life where you don’t need anyone—financially or otherwise, and that’s iconic! A 2024 Pew Research study shows 38% of women now out-earn their partners, up from 24% a decade ago. But hyper-independence can make partners feel like there’s no room for them in your world. A 2022 Journal of Marriage and Family study found that women prioritizing self-reliance report 25% higher rates of relationship dissatisfaction, as partners feel unneeded.
The Home Skill: Embrace vulnerability and invite connection. Asking for small favors—like having him hang a picture or help with a task—creates space for him to show he’s reliable. Fun fact: psychological research (the Ben Franklin effect) suggests that asking someone for a favor actually makes them like you more!
THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR MEN!! When you find micro-favors in the early stages that you ask him to fulfill, he will FEEL more bonded to you! And the longer you’re together, the more unreasonable your requests get to become with full trust that he will deliver for you.
In fact, just a few weeks ago I asked my husband to do something that I knew was SO ANNOYING for him. He had *already* cleaned our bathroom (a thing I rarely do) and he left a sponge in the sink. When I went to wash my hands, I asked him to come in and take the sponge out of the sink & put it away.
Christian: “Why can’t you just do it if you’re already washing your hands?”
Me: “Because I don’t touch sponges. They’re disgusting and I just can’t touch it.”
He PATIENTLY came in, grabbed the sponge, and put it away for me so I could wash my hands.
When I asked him later why he would do that (because yes, I recognize that’s insane of me) and he said “marriage is about doing insane things for your spouse.” And honestly I LOVED that. And I returned the favor a few days later when he asked me to go with him to the store because we needed to return something and he hates talking to people in customer service.
Quick Tip: Practice asking for one small favor on your next date or outing to meet someone (e.g., “Can you watch my coat while I go to the bathroom?”). Notice how it shifts the dynamic and opens the door to connection.
3. Too Much Listening: The Sharing Shut-Down
The Problem: You’re a pro at listening and asking engaging questions to show interest—a skill that shines in client meetings or networking. But in dating, if you’re only listening and not sharing, you can come off as closed-off, making him lose interest. A 2020 Journal of Social and Personal Relationships study found that lack of self-disclosure in early dating reduces partner engagement by 22%, as it signals emotional unavailability.
The Home Skill: Share your stories and sparkle! When he shares something, weave in a related anecdote or insight about yourself—you don’t necessarily have to wait for him to ask. Especially if you feel like the conversation is starting to feel one-sided. For example, if he talks about travel, share a funny or heartfelt story from your own adventures. This creates a two-way connection, showing you’re open and invested. Your real, unfiltered self is what draws people in and makes you undeniably irresistible.
Yes, obviously you WANT a guy who’s going to ask you questions. But it’s my experience as a dating coach that OFTEN TIMES when one person on a date feels the other person is too closed off or shut-down, they will try to overcompensate by talking a lot.
I see connections DIE because the conversation doesn’t flow like a dance. And that can be because the connection isn’t right. But it also could be because you’re giving off the vibe that you’re…impenetrable. If he doesn’t see a way in, a gentleman doesn’t force it. He respects you. And if you’re not giving him enough, he’ll write off the possibility of you–EVEN IF he’s super attracted to you or was initially very interested.
Make sense?
Quick Tip: Try a shaking exercise to release tension and boost confidence before a date: shake your arms and legs for two minutes while taking deep belly breaths. Be sure to give some love to your JAW (massage it and don’t neglect the neck!) because it holds so much tightness. It’ll help you feel free to share your vibrant self.
4. Perfectionism: The Authenticity Blocker
The Problem: Striving for flawlessness is your career MAKER—80% of female leaders exhibit perfectionist tendencies, per a 2023 McKinsey report. But in romance, trying to be “perfect” (perfect outfit, perfect responses, appearing completely put together and impenetrable at all times) blocks authentic connection. A 2019 Psychology Today study found that women who show vulnerability or do something “embarrassing” early in dating are 35% more likely to be seen as desirable than those who appear polished and perfect.
The Home Skill: Own your imperfections and let your quirky, messy, silly side shine. Food in your teeth, laughing at your own bad joke, or making mistakes doesn’t make you less attractive—it’s magnetic! Perfectionism builds walls; authenticity builds bridges.
Try journaling: “I am enough just as I am,” and pair it with full body shaking to release the tension of needing to be flawless all the time.
Quick Tip: On your next date, intentionally share a light, “imperfect” moment (e.g., “I totally tripped on my way here!”). Watch how it sparks warmth and connection. Or suggest doing something new that you will likely be terrible at! Letting your guard down to show that you’re both willing to try new things AND that you’re okay looking stupid tells him you’re open to a life of discovering the unknown together.
5. Being Interesting AND Interested: The Engagement Gap
The Problem: You’ve accomplished incredible things—career wins, financial success, a life most dream of—and you’re eager to share them. But focusing too much on being “interesting” instead of showing interest in your date can make him feel overlooked. A 2021 Social Psychological and Personality Science study found that partners who feel genuinely seen and heard report 40% higher relationship satisfaction.
The Home Skill: Be interested, not just interesting. Ask thoughtful questions (e.g., “What’s a dream you’re chasing?”), make strong eye contact, and break the touch barrier if it feels right (e.g., a light touch on his arm). This signals you’re invested in him, not just your own story. Believe in the power of connection by truly seeing your partner. Give him a chance to tell you about his passions and interests.
You’ll find that you feel more excited about him as you LET yourself be curious about him. And he will feel more INVESTED in you when he sees that you’re both a catch *and* you’re open to letting him be part of your world! All he wants, my girl, is to know that you want him there. I promise, guys are pretty eager to find someone who just cares about what he’s interested in.
Quick Tip: Practice a heart-opening visualization before a date: breathe deeply and imagine your ideal partner reaching across the table and grabbing your hands as he tells you about something important to him. You feel his excitement and he feels your openness to listen to him and it MELTS HIM. And in return, he can’t stop touching you (obviously in a sensual, sexy way–not a creepy/overbearing way) and you feel the electricity surge between you. This will help you show up curious and engaged…assuming he is actually an interesting guy.
